Balasore: In a shocking incident, an inebriated man allegedly hacked his wife to death in his house when she refused to give him money for consuming liquor late Tuesday night, reports said. The heinous incident was reported from Sahada village under Chandipur police limits in the district. The accused was identified as Ajay Kamila (40), husband of the deceased, Sumitra Kamila (32).
According to sources, Ajay came home in an inebriated state and asked Sumitra for money to have more drinks. However, the woman got angry and refused him any money as he was a regular drunkard and often wasted money on drinking with his friends.
An argument ensued between the two. In a bid to avoid the spat between their parents, three minor daughters went to bed. Things took an ugly turn after Ajay beat up the woman. However, when she further refused, he went away from the house.
After some time, he returned and saw Sumitra sleeping with her daughters. He took a sharp weapon and stabbed her, causing her death on the spot. He then fled the spot.
When the elder daughter woke up to attend a nature’s call, she saw her mother lying in a pool of blood. She rushed to the neighbours and shouted for help. The villagers searched for the accused frantically and found him hiding on the beaches of Chandipur.
When he was asked about the crime, he feigned ignorance about it. However, as the women thrashed him, he admitted to the crime.The villagers then handed him over to police after thrashing him black and blue. Police reached the village and admitted Ajay to Balasore district headquarters hospital. Later, the police seized the body and sent it for an autopsy.
