Bhubaneswar, March 9: The deferred delivery of books to the 2,200-odd Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) students of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has led to uproar among the students.
The students are yet to receive the complete set of books though the admission process of the two-year bachelor degree course offered on through the distance education mode by IGNOU has ended in February.
IGNOU offers the two-year B.Ed course, which will begin July, in its 101 study centres spread across 24 districts of the state.
“The two-year course has a tough syllabus and we need to be well-prepared before the session starts. However, as we have not received all the books yet, it is becoming difficult for us to figure out what to do when the course actually begins,” said a student on the request of anonymity.
Another student said that she has opted for science, mathematics and English but had received only four books of English. “After my admission process was completed, the authorities had given me four books of English and said that I have to collect the rest from the study centre. However, the books have yet to reach the destination,” she said.
“The books are being printed and supplied from the IGNOU headquarters in New Delhi. They have yet to send us all the sets of books and this has eventually led to a delay in delivering the books to students here,” said Abhilash Nayak, regional director IGNOU.
“There are some problems in the IGNOU headquarters that led to the delayed delivery of the books. However, the problems will be sorted out by the end of March and students will get the books before the session starts in July,” assured the regional director
