Chandili (Rayagada), Sept 21: In a shocking incident, a minor girl accused her stepmother of getting her raped by a man.
The matter came to the fore after the victim’s relatives lodged a complaint with Chandili police station against her step mother in Rayagada district.
In her complaint, the victim accused her stepmother of plotting the whole plan and leaving her behind at the man’s house to be sexually harassed by him. The accused has been identified as Binod Khara.
According to sources, the woman wanted the victim to marry Khara. When the girl rejected, she hatched a plan to get her raped by Khara. As per plan, she called the girl on the pretext of going to a hospital. But, she took the girl and left her in Khara’s house instead, where the accused raped her.
“I had gone to AIIMS in Bhubaneswar when my sister-in-law took my niece and left her at Khara’s place. When I went to rescue her, they assaulted us and threatened with dire consequences. So, we lodged a complaint with the police,” said the girl’s uncle. “I want that my niece should stay with us and continue her study,” he added.
After getting information, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) rescued her and took her into its custody.
When contacted, Rayagada SP Rahul PR informed, “The complainant has alleged that she was forcefully confined and raped. A case has been registered under section 12 of POCSO Act and investigation is on.”
“We have already recorded the girl’s statement and the CWC will take care of her rehabilitation,” chairperson of the committee, Rajkishore Sahu said.
