Sambalpur: A youth was critically injured after a bear attacked him at Kandal village under Taramal forest range of Rairakhol in Sambalpur district Friday.
The injured has been identified as Suru Dehury (25) of the village.
According to reports, Suru was working in his agricultural field when he came face-to-face with a wild bear. The bear which had sneaked into the farmland from the nearby forest attacked him following which Suru sustained grievous injuries on his face and head.
He was admitted to Rairakhol hospital for preliminary treatment but later he was shifted to VIMSAR Medical College and Hospital, Burla as his condition worsened.
Meanwhile, kin of the injured person and villagers have sought financial aid from forest department for his treatment.
