Kendrapara: Derabish block education officer Akhaya Kumar Swain has recently dismissed Fogala Janhimula Upper Primary School headmaster Ramesh Chandra Panda, as he had been absent for the past 18 years, according to district education officer Udayanath Majhi.
Although Panda was transferred to another school 18 years ago, he did not join; instead, he sought cancellation of his transfer order and reinstatement When the transfer order was not cancelled, Panda remained absent at the school to which he was transferred since April 26, 2000.
When the matter came to the notice of the Commissioner of Mass Education Department, he, during a video conference, directed the BEO of Derabish to dismiss the errant teacher as per the guidelines which state that if an employee remains absent at the workplace for more than five years, then he/she should be terminated/dismissed from the job.
Acting on the Commissioner’s direction, BEO Swain dismissed Ramesh Chandra Panda September 4, 2018.
