Bhadrak: A bike-borne miscreant Monday evening snatched a gold chain from a woman just 50 meters away from town police station here in this district.
The incident occurred while the victim, Chanchala Panda, wife of Laxmidhar Panda was walking to her home through the block colony street.
Spotting her alone, the miscreants approached her and fled after snatching away the gold chain that she was wearing.
Despite her screams for help, locals could not overpower the miscreant who sped away on his motorbike.
Acting on a complaint by the victim, police registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab him. Keeping in view the increasing incidents of chain snatching in the festival season ahead, police started a probe and took steps to intensify patrolling in the area.
