Keonjhar: A minor girl was killed, her father and sister sustained serious injuries after a heavy vehicle ran over their two-wheeler on which they were travelling towards Joda Monday noon.
The identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained immediately.
The mishap took place at Deojhar square between Bileipada and Murga Mahadev. The injured have been shifted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) and their condition is stated to be serious.
The incident occurred while the man and his two daughters were travelling on a bike when a speeding truck hit their bike head-on near Gobardhanpur square.
The mishap triggered tension in the area. Soon after the incident, the angry locals detained the truck driver and assaulted him. The truck was set afire by the mob who alleged administration’s apathy towards the pathetic road condition of the area.
A police team reached the spot and rescued the driver and booked him on charges of rash driving. A case has been registered and the situation was mitigated after officials intervened.
