Chhatrapur: Two criminals were injured and subsequently arrested following an encounter near Kanman village under Chamakhandi police limits of Ganjam district late Thursday night.
The injured criminals, identified as Manoj Sahu of Polasara area and Biswajit Barik of Kaipadar area in Khurda district, were admitted at MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
Acting on a tip off about the movement of the criminals, a squad intensified the patrolling in Chamakhandi area. On seeing the cops, the duo opened fire at them in an attempt to escape arrest, forcing the police to retaliate. During the exchange of fire, the wanted criminals suffered injuries on their legs.
Two pistols, four live bullets, Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and a car were seized from their possession.
The criminals have complicity in Khurda petrol pump loot case as well, the police informed.
