Keonjhar: Police Friday arrested two youths on the charge of beating an elderly man to death over irrigation of a farmland at Kunjardiha village in Keonjhar district.
The deceased has been identified as Suniya Behera while the accused duo has been identified as Samara Munda and Toya Munda.
According to reports, Suniya was irrigating his land with the help of a water pump. With no alternative way to bring the pipe connected to the pump to his agricultural land, he drew it through Samara’s farmland.
Meanwhile, a cow entered Samara’s land and ate up the standing crop. This infuriated Samara who held Suniya responsible for the straying of the cow to his farm, leading to an altercation between the two.
Samara, in a fit of rage called his associate Toya and they both attacked Suniya to death.
