Rayagada: An ailing woman was carried on a makeshift raft to the community health centre for treatment in Kalyansinghpur block of Rayagada district.
Hikaka Sitari (50), belonging to the Dongria Kondh community, of Fakeri village located atop Niyamgiri hill was suffering from extreme fever since Saturday. When her condition turned critical Sunday, her family members and fellow villagers took her near Kalyani river on an auto-rickshaw.
From there, her husband Sikaka Ghasi along with a relative ferried her to the river bank. They crossed the river and ferried the woman to the community health centre for treatment.
Earlier, a woman carried on a cot along with her two sons, was ferried to Kalyansinghpur community health centre October 23.
