Cuttack: An 11-feet long Indian rock python was rescued by snake helpline members Monday. According to Snake Rescue-cum-People for Animals member Subhendu Swain, locals of Pratap Nagari informed him after they spotted the 25-kg reptile crossing a road in Wallmi Colony.
The snake helpline members started the process to capture the snake at 3pm. The python was rescued after three hours of operation, said Swain.
“It was not an easy job. If the snake takes your hands or the body into its grip it will break the bones,” he added. Locals also said, the python had made calf his prey some days ago.
The non-venomous snake was handed over to Nuapada Range forester Sitakanta Behera, who released the reptile into Damdamani jungle after examining its health.
