Sambalpur: Lawyers demanding setting up of a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court (HC) in Western Odisha showed black flags to Food Supplies Minister Surya Narayan Patro near MCL main gate at Burla in Sambalpur district Wednesday.
According to sources, when the minister was on his way to a meeting on paddy procurement, more than 100 lawyers holding banners showed black flags to the minister’s cavalcade.
The venue of the meeting was later changed.
Patro said, “I am also an advocate. I understand the plight of agitating lawyers regarding the setting up of an HC bench in this region. I will convey the lawyers’ concern to the Chief Minister for sure.”
