Berhampur: Berhampur Industrial Training Institute (ITI) students have created the model of a Hollywood character by using scrap, a report said Monday.
The ITI has carved out a niche for itself at the national and state levels by undertaking programmes to upgrade the skills of its students.
The institution has also won laurels at the national level by building models using scrap. The students have built a museum of models made from scrap on their premises.
The ITI authorities have shown that everything has value and can be put to use by investing time and labour.
The latest achievement of the students is the model of the titular character of the American science action film ‘Predator.’ The students have built a 13-feet high model of the character by using discarded automobile spare parts.
The model was made using a 700 kg truck engine and the spare parts and engine of a motorcycle. The students of the fitter and turner trade department led by their teachers Arun Patra, Gopal Krushna Rath, Bichitra Kumar Padhiari and Gayachand Sahu worked for over a fortnight to make this model.
The students have also made a 6-ft high model of the famous movie character ‘Terminator’ by using discarded automobile spare parts. Two students, Raj Moharana and Bikash Padhi, led by their teacher Dwitikrushna Behera made this model using a discarded truck engine weighing 90 kg, a motorcycle engine and other spare parts.
Principal Rajat Panigrahi congratulated the students and teachers for their hard work and said the ITI will continue to foster excellence.
