Bolangir: A shocking incident has come to the fore in which even policemen who, the watchdogs of law are being victims of broad daylight crime.
An unidentified miscreant allegedly attacked a retired Superintendent of Police (SP) at RTO office Chhak in Bolangir town Wednesday and looted cash from his possession.
According to reports, the incident took place when the former cop, Bishnuprasad Padhi was out for a morning walk. The assailant attacked him with a sharp weapon and snatched away his mobile phone and cash.
In the attack, Padhi who had earlier served as the SP of Boudh district, sustained injuries on his head. Meanwhile, police have started investigation into the matter on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim.
Though the exact motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the accused committed the crime with an intention of loot.
