Jeypore: Two under-trial prisoners, against whom more than 10 cases are pending, escaped from Jeypore CJM court premises by jumping off its boundary wall here Wednesday. The accused were identified as Lal Bahadur Darji, a resident of Kusumput area under Jeypore Sadar police and T Paban Kumar of Malkangiri.
According to sources, three police personnel were bringing the duo to the court, 100 meters from the jail in the afternoon. They reached the court and were waiting near the courtroom. Meanwhile, the duo asked the police personnel to be allowed to attend the nature’s call, following which the policemen let them go to a nearby filed and waited for them from a distance.
However the duo ran away from the sport by jumping off a boundary wall with one of their associates who was waiting for them.
Later, Assistant Superintendent of Police V Raghunath Rao and sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) T Jagarao Reddy reached the court and launched a probe into the matter. On the other hand, a sentry was suspended.
Notably, the duo had beaten up sentries on the court premises two months ago.
