BHUBANESWAR: The much-awaited Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 was released in theaters of the city Thursday. A statement from Book My Show stated that over 1 million tickets have been booked on the site already.
The movie which is directed by S Shankar is the sequel of Robot which was released in 2010. It also happens to be the most expensive movie in India. The film stars Akshay Kumar, whose last five movies Gold, Padman, Toiket: Ek Prem Katha, Jolly LLB -2 and Rustom were all hits.
Akkians, a city based fan group of the superstar, celebrated the movie at a city theatre by watching the premiere show. Sidharth Swain, a member of Akkians, said, “This is for the first time that Akshay Kumar is working in a south movie. His pairing with superstar Rajinikanth in the movie is a cause of celebration for all of us.” He added that the movie delivers a cinematic masterpiece. The story is essential to the plot and quite thought provoking. It espouses the dangers of excessive use of gadgets.
Another fan Abhimanyu Pal said that the movie captured the fans’ imagination with its brilliant VFX and action scenes especially in the last 30 minutes of the movie.
Sangram Kumar said, “In recent times, Akshay Kumar was known for making movies on social issues such as sanitation in Toilet: Ek Perem Katha and Padman. With his latest movie he has set foot in the genre of science fiction. He has portrayed the role of an antagonist.”
