Balasore: Two persons sustained critical injuries in an accident near Dahisada Chapolia Chhak on NH-16 in Soro of Balasore district Saturday.
When the police officials were trying to rescue the injured, a speeding truck hit the police van but no policemen were inside the van then, averting a major mishap.
According to reports, the two persons who were travelling in a car sustained grievous injuries when their vehicle overturned after being hit by an unknown vehicle.
The mishap occurred at 3 am Saturday. The injured persons, who were initially admitted to Soro hospital, have later been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Police rushed to the spot and when they were involved in the rescue operation, a truck hit the police van.
In another incident, a truck collided with another truck parked in front of the Soro police station. Both the vehicles were severely mangled but no one was hurt in the accident.
