Bhubaneswar: The United States Ambassador to India, Kenneth I Juster had a look at the cultural and archaeological heritage of Ekamra Kshetra Wednesday while walking through the lanes of the Old Town.
The Ambassador had his tryst with the famous Mukhteswar Temple of the 11th century and the famous Lingaraj Temple of the Old Town while participating in the Ekamra Walks which gives a glimpse of the city’s cultural heritage.
Juster and his team came to the site early in the morning and started their walk at around 9 am. They had a look at Old Town temples till 10:20am and walked around a kilometre.
The Ambassador was interested in knowing about Kalinga architecture visible in the city’s temples. During his walkabout, he visited the Mukhteswar Temple, the Parasurameswar Temple of the 7th Century and many others.
After visiting the Parasurameswar Temple, the Ambassador went through the Kotitirtha Lane and had a look at the Swarnajaleswar and Kotitirtheswar temples and the Bindusagar Lake.
He was also seen clicking photographs as the priests performed traditional Hindu religious rites.
Ambassador Juster also visited the 12th Century Anantavasudeva Temple, the Doodhwala ‘dharmasala’, Gourishankar Temple and the Curzon Mandap near the 11th Century shrine, famous for its Lord Lingaraj deity, the presiding deity of Ekamra Kshetra.
