Bhubaneswar, April 5: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has brought about changes in the curriculum and marking system for Class XI and XII and has asked affiliated schools to be adhere to this from the 2015-16 academic year.
The major changes in the Class XI curriculum include replacement of healthcare with telemedicine in multimedia classes. Besides, a font convertor focusing on local languages has been introduced. Net banking and mobile banking have been added in the informatics practice classes, while the visual basic script has been replaced with Java script.
In psychology, it has been decided to adopt the format of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks. Thus, each topic has been renamed according to the NCERT textbooks on the
subject.
In geography, the students will now study, one highly urbanised state and one poorly urbanised state instead of states with the largest and smallest areas.
They will also study one state having a high human development index (HDI) and one with a low HDI.
Students will also study states with high population pressure on land and one with low level.
With regard to distribution of marks, the viva-voce of sociology will now carry 2 marks instead of 5 marks as in the previous year. Also in economics, the current challenges facing Indian economy will carry 15 marks instead of 10, with the development experience of India as compared to the neighbouring countries carrying 10 marks instead of 15 earlier.
The graphic design practical will carry 30 marks instead of 20 and in biology, diversity in living organisms will carry 7 marks instead of 10 as in the previous year.
In the Class XII Informatics practices class, remote access software such as Team Viewer and Inscript have been included. A number guessing games with application of two dimensional arrays containing randomly generated numbers in pairs hidden inside boxes have also been included.
