Bhubaneswar, April 7: After the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has mandated a two-year course for the Bachelors of Education (B.Ed) and Masters of Education (M.Ed), the state government is taking steps to implement the revised guidelines.
The state has planned to constitute an examination board at the directorate level with a nodal officer and three experts who will remain in overall charge of preparation of questions for the courses.
The examination mechanism will be worked out by the directorate of Teacher Education and State Council for Educational Research and Technology (TE and SCERT) in consultation with the Board of Secondary Education. The officials have been asked to ensure strict confidentiality for preparation of questions, proof reading, final printing and distribution of sealed questions to the examination centres.
The state has set the date of entrance test for the two-year courses as May 17. The test will be held at institutions located in the district headquarters such as high schools and colleges. The heads of the respective institutions and district education officers (DEOs) will remain in-charge of the entrance examination. The remuneration of invigilators, centre superintendents, DEOs, science supervisors and observers associated with the examination has been revised as per the recommendation of the Staff Selection Commission. The DEOs and the supervisors will get a one-time payment of `1000.
The government has also sought proposals from private parties to open B.Ed colleges in the state. The private institutions are required to appoint qualified teachers to be eligible for official recognition. The publication of the entrance test results is scheduled for May 31 and online conselling begin June 10. The admission process will start June 25 and the classes will begin July 1.
