Lahore: A cyber-stalker was sentenced to 24 years in jail and fined Rs 7,00,000 (Pak currency) for blackmailing over 200 lady doctors and nurses through their social media accounts.
ATC-I Judge Sajjad Ahmad announced the verdict in the presence of the accused and the prosecution. Under section-7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, the convict, Abdul Wahab was awarded 14-year imprisonment along with a Rs 5,00,000 fine. Adding to it, the judge also sentenced Wahab to seven years in jail along with a Rs 1,00,000 fine and a further three-year jail term and Rs 100,000 fine under section 419 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). “All the sentences will run concurrently and benefit of section 382-B of CrPC shall be given to convict,” the judge announced.
Section 382-B says that the length of any sentence of imprisonment imposed upon an accused shall be treated as reduced by any period during which he/she was detained in custody for such an offence.
The convict will serve his sentence in the famous Kot Lakhpat jail located here.
