Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, a minor boy and his cousin drowned while they were taking bath in a pond at Salimarikunda village under Sadar police limits in Malkangiri district, Friday morning. The deceased duo has been identified as Vivek Madkami (5) and his aunt’s daughter Rame Pariarmi (6).
According to sources, Rame along with her cousin brother Vivek had gone to the village pond for bathing. Accidentally, the two slipped into deep water. Family members went to search for them after they did not return home. However, there was no trace of the two.
Later, the villagers spotted the duo floating in the pond and informed their family members. On being informed, police reached the spot and inquired into the matter.
Sources said Rame, daughter of Baja Pariarmi of Uskapali village, had gone to her maternal uncle’s house at Salimarikunda village, Thursday when the tragedy struck.
