Rourkela: Income Tax sleuths raided the residences and offices of mines baron Deepti Ranjan Patnaik and his associates Rajendra Gupta and Sanjay Bansal here and seized important papers for the third consecutive day, Sunday.
The raids started Friday at the residence and offices of DR Patnaik while the IT sleuths carried out searches at the houses and offices of Gupta and Basal, two associates of Patnaik, at Civil Township, Saturday. The raids conducted at the premises of the accused on charge of amassing disproportionate assets, illegal mining and tax evasion and concluded Sunday.
The IT sleuths verified several documents and papers during the raids for three days and seized incriminating documents including tax evasion in the Indrani Patnaik mines. Notably, DR Patnaik is the brother PCC president Niranjan Patnaik and Rajya Sabha member Soumya Ranjan Patnaik.
