Nabarangpur: Relatives of a minor girl who was impregnated by a boy of the locality are moving from pillar to post seeking justice.
The family members have approached the District Collector, District Child Protection Officer and the additional superintendent of police in this regard as the police did not arrest the accused for reasons better known to the authorities maintaining law and order in the district.
According to reliable sources, Govind Sabar and the girl were in love with each other. Govind is reported to have promised to marry the girl. But he refused to accept the girl when she became pregnant, added the sources.
The minor informed her relatives about the matter when they reached Govind’s place to sort out the issue January 2. But Govind’s family refused to accept the girl and his aunt allegedly assaulted a relative of the minor.
Later, the minor girl was found lying in a paddy field near her house. Her mother who suspected that she might have consumed some poisonous substance rushed her to a local hospital January 3.
The doctors, however, told the family members that she was eight months pregnant.
Finding no other way the minor girl’s relatives approached the police and filed a complaint, and a case (3/19) was registered by Jharigaon Police.
Additional SP Shantanu Mohanty said a case had been registered with Jharigaon police and Govind would be nabbed soon.
