Sankarakhol: A man committed suicide Tuesday after murder attempt on his wife over family feud at Gudrigaon under Tikabali police limits in Kandhamal district.
The body of the deceased, identified as Arun Kumar Sahu, 50, was seized and sent for post-mortem by police. A case of unnatural death was registered.
Sahu’s wife Sachal who was injured in the attack was admitted to Gumagarh community health centre (CHC).
According to sources, a fight ensued between the couple over some issue. Three months back, Sachal had left her house to live with her parents after her husband assaulted her. However, on the intervention of the village committee, Sachal returned to her house last week.
Things took an ugly turn Monday night over some issue after Sahu once again assaulted Sachal. In a fit of rage, he took an axe and hit Sachal on her head.
Sachal collapsed after profuse bleeding. Suspecting that she was dead, Sahu hanged himself to death with his ‘dhoti’.
Sachal gained conscious after a few hours and managed to alert her neighbours who then alerted the cops.
