Kundura: Although three years have passed after the health department announced compensation for the parents of three kids who had died due to Japanese Encephalitis, the family is yet to get the money. No public representative has visited their house so far to check out on their problems.
Dhanurjay Harijan and his wife Raja, residents of Jambuguda village in Bhusangaguda panchayat of Kundura block in Koraput district, had three daughters.
Harijan’s third daughter was suffering from fever and was admitted to Koraput District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), but a doctor at the DHH, G Arun Kumar, declared the girl was brought dead November 13, 2016.
The other two kids, Rutu and Rupali, who were also at the DHH at that time had fever. But doctors said they had no serious problems, and referred them to the Kundura Community Health Centre (CHC). But the two died while undergoing treatment at the CHC November 19, 2016.
The health department had announced financial help to the parents at that time, but it seems that it has forgotten its promise, as the family has not got a single Rupee.
Chief Medical Officer Lalit Mohan Rath said he is not aware of the incident. He said whether the kids died of JE or due to other reasons has to be verified by checking medical records.
Meanwhile, the people here have demanded that the department should provide the promised compensation to the parents.
