Bhubaneswar: A pall of gloom descended on the Odia film fraternity after veteran filmmaker and movie director Chakradhar Sahu passed away here Wednesday morning.
According to reports, Sahu was undergoing treatment at Bhubaneswar-based AIIMS after falling sick a few days back. Sources said he was suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) for some time now and his lungs had been severely affected leading to breathing difficulties. However, he did not respond to the treatment and his condition started deteriorating from Tuesday night. He breathed his last early Wednesday morning, according to family members who added that his mortal remains would be taken to his birthplace for final rites.
Sahu is a known face for many superhit movies like ‘Nila Masterani’, ‘Tumaku Paruni Ta Bhuli’, ‘Kebe Tame Naha Kebe Mu Nahi’ and ‘Meemansa’. Sahu has also received the Odisha State Film Award for Best Director for ‘Tumaku Paruni Ta Bhuli’,
As news of the sudden demise of the renowned filmmaker spread, there were many who started arriving at the hospital to pay their last respects. Many also called up his family members to express their condolences.
