BHUBANESWAR: A fashion sketching and for budding fashion students was organised by Aedea School of Fashion Design at Patia in Bhubaneswar recently.
Organiser Binoy Munda said, “This is a chance to develop ideas and creative skills through the medium of fashion illustration. In this fashion illustration course, one can study various methods of illustration and recording work in the context of fashion, and learn conventional and new media techniques.”
“The idea is to find one’s own visual language and unlock one’s creativity through experimentation, from concept to completion. The course is suitable for beginners, but does not cover the basics of fashion drawing, so those students without any previous drawing experience will be encouraged to look at other ways of translating their ideas into fashion illustration styles,” he added.
The course includes: creating a fashion illustration, developing your visual vocabulary, exploring various media and techniques, interpreting concepts and ideas, importance of keeping a sketchbook, developing a personal drawing style, exploring colour palettes and understanding the wider role of fashion illustration.
This workshop is for beginners who have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn. No previous experience is required for the event. This course is for students aged 18 and older.
The tutor who would guide students is Vikram Kumar, a gold medalist, graduate in Fashion Design from NIFT Delhi. He has been working with international brands like Zara, H and M, Gap to name a few. He is also an artist and his work is being regularly displayed in art galleries in Delhi and Mumbai. He is a great connoisseur of Madhubani painting and has also invented a new form of painting with thread knotting technique.
