Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, a Class 10 student of Muktapasi High School in Dhenkanal district was knocked down by a speeding en route to appearing for the Matric examination centre. The student identified as Bulu Nayak, has been hospitalised with multiple injuries on his leg and other body parts. His condition is stated to be critical. Doctors have said, that Bulu will not be able to appear for the HSC finals which began Friday, this year.
The mishap occurred near Barihapur under Parjang police limits on NH-53. Bulu a resident of Kamarda village was the pillion rider on a bike with two family members when the incident occurred. He was on his way to reach the examination centre at Kankadasoda.
A speeding truck from the opposite side hit the bike on which the trio was riding. All the three, including Bulu’s brother Shantanu, who was driving, and father Maheswar, sustained critical injuries in the mishap. The truck driver fled the spot.
Later, fire services personnel rescued the three injured and admitted them to Parjang Community Health Centre (CHC). Bulu’s brother Shantanu was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
