Marriages are pretty commonly carried out during night and this across all sects of Hindus in North. Northern India had a greater influence intruders/ Mughal invaders. And to keep marriages low profile and secret event very obvious to avoid any attention of anti Hindu forces night was the best time for it.
According to Hinduism, sun signifies power, fire and the immortal world of Lord Brahma. But, Moon signifies cool and calmness, an indicator of general well being.
It is believed that to have a calm and soulful relationship between the couple, marriages are generally conducted at night in north India.

Dhruva means the Firm, Stable, Permanent, and is the name of the North Pole Star. In the wedding ceremony, the bridegroom shows the North Pole Star Dhruva to the bride.
In this mantra bridegroom wishes his wife to prosper and be stable even like starry wives of the Seven Rishis. And we can see starts only at night, so the wedding is conducted at night.
