Bhubaneswar, April 27: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik Monday directed all concerned officials to expedite the process of filling up 40,000 posts against existing vacancies in various departments.
Participating in a high-level meeting attended by Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Law minister Arun Kumar Sahu, chief secretary GC Pati and other concerned officials, the Chief Minister asked all concerned to coordinate with the Orissa Public Service Commission (OPSC), Orissa State Selection Commission (OSSC) and Orissa Subordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) to fill up vacancies in their respective departments.
Patnaik also emphasised the need for filling up these vacancies and suggested that he will review again May 23.
According to sources, the meeting also cleared decks for appointment of 255 Excise constable in the state. A notification in this regard will be published shortly.
The meeting also resolved to take steps for filling up of 661 posts though OCSC (combined) entrance to be conducted by OPSC.
Besides, it was said the finance department has cleared the pending proposal for filling up of base level posts existing in Agriculture, Cooperation and Fisheries and ARD departments. The concerned departments will coordinate with OPSC, OSSC and OSSSC for filling up of these posts within the given timeframe.
The chief minister also directed all concerned officials to co-ordinate with state advocate general and government advocates to sort out the legal issues to expedite the process of filling ASO posts at the secretariat, combined police service posts in the home department and junior engineer posts in water resources department.
The government has also expedited the process of recruitment, said the sources. The chief minister April 15 had approved the proposal for recruitment of 232 junior data entry operators at the Secretariat.
The data entry operators will be recruited through OSSC.
The state government had also decided to fill up 327 posts of sub-inspectors of police and the chief minister had approved filling up 24 vacancies in sergeants posts
April 20.
