Sonepur: A farmer committed suicide due to alleged crop loss and debt burden at Chulimar village under Binika block in this district Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mohan Kalta. According to sources, Mohan consumed poison in the morning and was rushed to Burla-based VIMSAR by family members.
He, however, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The deceased’s kin alleged that Mohan faced crop loss and took the extreme step as he found himself unable to repay the loan amount taken for agriculture purpose.
