Rayagada, April 29: Both prime accused Netrananda Dandsena and the victim, shikhya sahayika Itishree Pradhan, were used as pawns in a political turf war of this district, CBI sources said Wednesday.
The agency would expose the identity of the real culprits and submit the details to the Supreme Court, CBI inspector RK Joshi told Oriya daily ‘Dharitri.’
According to sources, plans were hatched by one of the two factions of a political party for trapping a local people’s representative. Dandasena, former sub-inspector of schools, was to be used in the game but unfortunately a lady teacher had to lose her life while the politicians escaped, sources said.
CBI sleuths have so far quizzed about 60 people in the case. Of them, seven including five brothers of a family are
reportedly involved in the murder case. The two others are a government employee and his wife.
The investigating officials have already collected evidences against the ‘Pandavas’, sources said. While three of the five brothers have been interrogated several times, the agency is keeping a vigil on the movement of the other two with the help of local
police, they added.
Officials, however, refused to disclose the details of the persons saying they may turn hostile and even flee.
Joshi Wednesday spoke to the district representatives of a few established dailies at length at local circuit house and sought their opinions about some of the accused.
The CBI team was angry with the headmaster Chandrasekhar Panda of Tikiri School for his failure to inform neither the police nor fire brigade when Itishree was set on fire, Joshi told the reporters. Notably, some students of the school had informed the headmaster about the burning of the teacher. However, he turned up at the site late and didn’t inform police immediately.
