Urmila Matondkar: Recently ‘Rangeela girl’ has joined the Congress which has nominated her to contest on the party ticket from Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency. It is a stronghold of the BJP, but the ‘Pyar Tune Kya Kiya’ girl is confident of winning. “Honesty is my USP,” Urmila has recently been quoted as saying. She will be contesting against BJP sitting MP Gopal Shetty and she knows she has a battle on her hands. However, with the Trade Union Joint Action Committee of Maharashtra deciding to support Urmila is confident of pulling off an upset.

Nusrat Jahan: Bengal’s Nusrat Jahan will also be making her debut in the electoral mandate. She has been fielded by the Trinamool Congress from the Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency. The seat has a sizeable Muslim community and the TMC is banking on their votes to see Nusrat through. The candidate at present has shelved her acting hat and is busy campaigning on the streets of Basirhat town which is close to the Bangladesh border. At all campaigns Nusrat is fulfilling the public demands of ‘selfies’ and recitation of dialogues of some her commercial movies.

Jaya Prada: The two-time Parliamentarian from the Samajwadi Party, Jaya Prada joined BJP recently. The saffron party has nominated her to contest from the Rampur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. She is up against SP’s key candidate Azam Khan. It must be stated here that the actor-turned-politician had twice won from this constituency in 2004 and 2009.

Hema Malini: The BJP has once again trusted Hema Malini and she will be contesting from Mathura. Earlier there were reports that she could join the Congress, but that did not happen. There was also speculation that she will contest from Fatehpur Sikri constituency this year, but the BJP decided to nominate her from Mathura again.
