Bhubaneswar: A security guard engaged in delivery of cash in Dhamnagar area of Bhadrak district died of suspected sunstroke Wednesday.
There is no let-up in heat-wave condition across the state in the next couple of days, according to Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre here Wednesday.
The heatwave condition may continue for the next two-three days even as thunderstorm activities are likely to remain for the next five days, the IMD sources said.
The report from Dhamnagar said the deceased was identified as Indrajit collapsed at around 8 in the morning. He was taken to the district headquarters hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The hospital sources said the cause of his death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Met Centre duty officer Laxmikant Giri said, “Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 43.7° Celcius Tuesday. Temperature was above 40° Celcius in nine cities across Odisha. The temperature may go down by 2-3 degrees in a couple of days.” Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 43.7°C Tuesday and it has come down to 41°C Wednesday, he added.
Some districts of North Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm along with gusty wind in the next couple of days. The districts likely to be affected are Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Kendrapada.
