dipchand bihari, post news network, Bhubaneswar, May 27: Around 13 lakh students, who appeared for their Class X board examination through various CBSE schools and were expecting their results Wednesday, had to face a big disappointment with the CBSE postponing the declaration of the results by a couple of days, at the eleventh hour, without giving any specific reason for the delay. The results will now be declared on May 29, board sources said.
The delay in publishing the results has indeed increased the level of stress of the students, who were waiting for the results with baited breath Wednesday.
The CBSE Class X board examination was held in two different phases based on two different schemes pursued by the board and its students. Examination under the scheme-I was conducted by the CBSE in between March 2 and March 26, 2015, while the school-based examination under the scheme-II was held March 10 onwards. Examination under scheme-I was for those students who didn’t want to continue their studies with the CBSE after Class X whereas the examination under scheme-II was for the students who intended to continue with the CBSE system, be it in the vocational stream, pre-university courses etc.
As many as 14, 047 schools are now affiliated with the CBSE of which the Class X board examination was conducted in 3,537 test centres (schools) across the nation. The examinations consisted of ‘value based questions’, which carried three to five marks each across all major subjects. These subjects included Hindi (A), Hindi (B), English (Communicative), English (Language and Literature), Mathematics, Science and Social Sciences.
A total of 13,73,853 candidates had registered for the secondary school (Class X) examination. Out of this, 8,17,941 were boys and 5,55,912 were girls. This year there had been an increase of 3.37 per cent in the number of students appearing for the exams, compared to that in the last year.
After the results are announced May 29, students will be able to check their results on the official website of the board. Students can also obtain their results through the board’s SMS service, which will cost them Re1 per SMS. They can also get their results through the CBSE’s interactive voice response system. The charges for the IVRS are 30 paise per minute.
