Jharsuguda: A 15-year-old girl from Jamshedpur area in Jharkhand has alleged that she was raped continuously by several people including four police men at different places in Jharsuguda and Raipur in Chhattisgarh for eight days.
The matter came to light after the survivor lodged a complaint in this regard at Telco Police Station in Jamshedpur of Jharkhand. After being rescued from a hotel by Bagbera Police in Jharkhand, the custody of the minor girl has been handed over to East Singhbhum Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
According to sources, the girl had eloped with a person identified as Rabi Namdhari and had come to Jharsuguda where she was abandoned by the latter. However, reports also stated that the minor girl was forced into prostitution by her brother-in-law.
After being taken to Jharsuguda and Raipur, she was raped multiple times for nearly eight days. The four cops were among her rapists, the survivor alleged in her complaint.
After receiving the complaint Telco Police has arrested Rabi and two others in this connection. Meanwhile, Jharsuguda SP Aswini Mohanty has said the local police will cooperate with Jharkhand police to unearth the facts regarding the complaint.
Jharsuguda SP Ashwini Kumar Mohanty, on the other hand, stated that there are no specific allegations that Jharsuguda cops were involved in the sexual assault.
“The girl has alleged that four police personnel were involved in sexual assault are either from Raipur or Jharsuguda. A case has been registered at Telco Police Station and we will cooperate them in the investigation,” said Mohanty.
