Bhubaneswar, June 4: Hosts Town Club prevailed over Saheed Sporting by 40 runs to enter the final of the Town Club Junior Cricket League thanks to an all-round show by man of the match, Sushil Barik here Thursday.
Opting to bat first, the hosts scored 157 runs in 29.4 overs with Binayak Mohanty (33) and Sushil (27) providing meaningful contributions. Anshuman Sinha (3/28) starred with the ball for Saheed Sporting.
In reply, Saheed Sporting were never in the fray and in spite of the efforts of Subham Pani (35) and Anwesh Tripathy (27), they were bundled out for 117 in 28 overs.
Sushil (4/14) bowled brilliantly to script victory for his side. He was well-supported by Aniket Patnaik (3/21) and Binayak (2/26).
Rutuparna enters final
Rutuparna Choudhury of Orissa sailed into to the final of the U-14 girls’ singles event in the All India Super Series tennis tournament beating third seed Sanya Singh of Maharashtra 6-1, 6-2 in Ahmedabad, Thursday.
In girls’ doubles, Rutuparna and Ameek Kiran Batth made it to the final after they defeated Sanjana Rayarala and Srujana Rayarala of Andhra Pradesh 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinal.
