post news network, Bhubaneswar, June 6: As many as 40 young boys and girls with different social and economic backgrounds joined a weeklong camp, titled ‘Life skill Education camp’, organised jointly by the Brahmakumaris Youth Wing, Raj Yoga Education and Research Foundation and Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India at the Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya here in the city, Saturday. The camp, which began Saturday, will continue till June 12.
The participants will get the opportunity to enrich themselves with practical knowledge on life in general and the various ways to attain success in it. Through various skill development activities, such as value games, personal counselling, learning the art of the Raj Yoga meditation, consumer and other awareness sessions, etc. the students will be taught the art of better living. Besides, various cultural activities are also scheduled to take place in the camp.
“Youths are the main strength of our nation. They can change the world and can take it to a new height. Sadly, today they are misusing their potential. Therefore, we have made a plan to train them properly through this camp, so that they can recognise their power and can walk along the right path,” said BK Geeta, centre-in-charge, Om Niwas, Unit 9. “Sports and youth affairs minister of the Orissa government, Sudam Marndi, will grace the occasion on June 8,” she added.
Those who were taking part in the camp included physically challenged students, students from both the SC/ST and the general categories, studying in the city colleges. “We had lots of fun and earned spiritual knowledge today, the very first day of the camp. We took part in various awareness programmes on subjects that I was not aware of at all. I believe this camp will be really beneficial for me,” said Trilachana Behera, a tribal student aged about 20 years.
Nevertheless, the camp also will give the participants an opportunity to take part in various exercises, which would help them increase not only their memory power but also their physical stamina. The students will also be given tips on how to make their relationship with the other members of their families, as also the society, better, during the camp.
The camp was inaugurated by Anant Kishore Jena, director of youth and sports affairs. Dignitaries, who attended the programme included RPS Thakur, zonal director of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Surendra Kumar Ninanee, chief administrative officer of East Coast Railway.
