Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Monday granted bail to self-proclaimed godman Santosh Roul aka Sarathi Baba.
Roul’s lawyer Manas Chand said that the Orissa HC reportedly granted him bail against a bail bond of Rs 2 lakh and two bailers. The Court urged him to cooperate with the investigations and to not try and influence witnesses.
Born in Ganjam, Roul was accused of sexually and physically assaulting women and defrauding his devotees. He was arrested by the Crime Branch from his Barimula ashram August 8, 2015.
Following his arrest, a woman and her daughter pressed charges against him for sexual and physical exploitation. A case was booked for fraudulence as well because Roul had reportedly robbed them of their gold ornaments and money.
Roul will be released from Choudwar Jail in Cuttack district where he has been locked up for over three years.
