Dhamnagar: Police detained a man for allegedly hacking his wife to death at Kothara Das sahi under Dhushuri police station in Bhadrak district, Friday. The deceased has been identified as Rashmita, who had tied the nuptial knot with Sanjay Das, the accused.
Sources said Sanjay and Rashmita had an altercation over some issues. Suddenly Sanjay lost his cool, picked up an axe and attacked Rashmita.
Rashmita was rushed to the district medical hospital here in critical condition where doctors declared her brought dead. Police seized the body for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, police have detained Sanjay. During interrogation he confessed to have committed the crime. Police said their investigation is on to find out what led to the quarrel for which Sanjay killed his wife.
