Angul: The 78 families that were displaced from Satkosia core tiger reserve area to Saruali area here will be compensated within next 20 days, Angul collector Manoj Kumar Mohanty said Friday.
While reviewing the rehabilitation progress of the families that have started living in Raigoda village here, Mohanty emphasised on auxiliary facilities being delivered to them within a stipulated time frame.
The collector has asked the concerned officials to expedite the process of identifying plots for their houses.
According to data available with the district administration, 56 plots have been identified and the same numbers houses have already been built on them under Biju Pucca Ghara Yojana. The completed houses have also been connected with power and water supply.
That said, 22 plots are yet to be identified. “The displaced 78 families are to get Rs 2.03 crore as compensation and the tehsildar has been tasked with distributing the money. An amount of Rs 1.28 crore has so far been distributed,” the tehsildar informed.
Collector Mohanty also directed the tehsildar to compensate 21 families who have filed petitions with the High Court seeking compensation.
“Taking the demands of the displaced families into consideration, it has been decided in the meeting that they would get Rs 6 lakh as fixed deposit and the rest Rs 4 lakh will be given to meet various expenses,” the collector said.
Similarly, the collector asked the concerned officials to get a guard wall constructed to conserve the rain water flowing down the hills and a check dam under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. He also laid stress on a mini Anganwadi centre for the health and education of the rehabilitated families and vocational training to self help groups in the village.
