Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police Tuesday arrested a man, said to be the State Head of a microfinance company, on charges of raping a woman on pretext of giving her a job in his office.
The arrest was made on the basis of the victim’s complaint, the police said.
According to the cops, the accused – indentified as Jay Kumar—is a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He worked in Bhubaneswar as Odisha business head for Chhattisgarh’s Raipur based Satya Micro Capital Limited.
The complainant used to work at the company earlier. However, she had resigned from her job about four months ago.
Later, she contacted Jay requesting him to rejoin her work. Jay then asked her to meet him at a lodge located at Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar.
The girl along with her friend arrived at the lodge September 1 where she was raped by Jay, the girl alleged in her complaint lodged with Laxmisagar police September 2 following which the arrest was made Tuesday, September 3.
