Cuttack, July 28: The Orissa High Court Tuesday quashed the preliminary examination of Orissa Judicial Services (OJS), 2015, conducted by the Orissa Public Services Commission (OPSC).
The HC has directed the OPSC to conduct the preliminary examination of OJS 2015 afresh within six weeks. Besides, the public service commission has been directed to conduct the main examination within four months of the publication of the preliminary exam results.
Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi pronounced the verdict while disposing several petitions filed in connection with a few faulty questions in the preliminary examinations. Earlier, Sarangi had completed hearing on the petitions and reserved his verdict.
The OPSC had conducted preliminary examination of OJS 2015 at designated centres in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Balasore and Sambalpur May 31. Altogether 2,167 candidates appeared for the examination to compete for 69 vacancies. However, several faulty questions were found in the objective-type question paper.
Madhumala Bisoyi and 18 others filed petitions in the HC over the faulty questions. The petitioners urged the court to cancel the May 31 preliminary examination of OJS, 2015 and requested it to take action against those framing the question papers.
The OPSC had admitted that 24 of the total 100 questions in the preliminary examination were faulty, and proposed awarding grace marks to candidates on a pro rata basis. The petitioners, however, opposed such a move. Earlier, the HC had pronounced a stay on the publication of the results of OJS, 2015.
