Remuna: Unsafe operation of country boats at Haladia ghat in Budhabalanga river under Remuna block in Balasore has been a cause of concern for local people. They took up the issue with Union SMSME Minister Pratap Chandra Sarangi Tuesday.
It may be noted here that over 30 passengers were being ferried in a country boat at the ghat Sunday. The boat capsized, but the passengers managed to swing to safety.
A bridge project is in progress at the ghat to provide connectivity to thousands of people.
Sarangi visited the bridge project Tuesday. People from Kalyanpur, Gandarda and Nizampur met the Union Minister and demanded that he ask the department to complete the project as soon as possible.
Besides, locals demanded operation of a motorized boat at the ghat. They also expressed their unhappiness over the delay of the bridge project.
