Rasgovindpur: A lecturer of a college in Mayurbhanj district was arrested Saturday on charges of misbehaving with a tribal girl student at Rasgovindpur block here.
The accused has been identified as Siba Prasad Khatual, lecturer of education department of the college.
In her complaint, the girl alleged that the lecturer misbehaved with her during a class Thursday.
The matter came to light after the minor narrated her ordeal before her family members Thursday. The college managing committee was informed about the incident by the irate guardians Friday.
The college principal interrogated the said lecturer and reprimanded him following which the lecturer locked himself in a room. He didn’t open the door despite the staff requesting him to do so.
With no other choice before them, the college authorities informed the police about the incident.
Taking note of the report, police broke down the door and arrested the accused lecturer. A case (95/19) has been lodged in this context.
