Baripada: Vigilance sleuths Wednesday have arrested a cashier of Rural Development division office at Baripada in Mayurbhanj district for accepting a bribe from a contractor.
The accused has been identified as Ajay Kumar Sejapada.
The cashier had demanded a bribe of Rs 14,000 from a contractor Wednesday to pass his bills. The contractor, however, chose to inform the Vigilance.
Acting on the tip-off, the sleuths laid a trap and caught Ajay red-handed while he was receiving the money.
The bribe money was recovered from the accused. The vigilance team also seized various important documents in the presence of witnesses from his office.
The matter is under investigation.
