Bargarh: In a crackdown on criminals, Amit das, a notorious outlaw, was arrested after a gun-fight near Samardhara under Bhatli Tehsil in Bargarh district late Wednesday night.
Acting on a tip-off about the presence of Das in the locality, police reached the spot hoping to nab him. Seeing the cops, he tried to flee in order to evade arrest. This led to an exchange of fire between the cops and Das in which the police chased and nabbed him while he was trying to flee.
Several criminal cases are pending against him at different police stations in Bargarh and Bolangir districts.
Police also recovered a motorcycle, gun and four live bullets from his possession.
