Bhubaneswar: In an aim to streamline public service, the Odisha government will cover all departments under the ‘Mo Sarkar’ programme by March 5, 2020. Launching the ‘Mo Sarkar’ programme at police stations and hospitals, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made the announcement.
Naveen Patnaik directly called up eight persons, who had earlier visited different police stations and hospitals, and sought their feedback.
The numbers of the eight were collected randomly from the ‘Mo Sarkar’ portal. While giving their opinion and feedback regarding the police stations and hospitals, people thanked the Chief Minister for this innovative scheme.
Later, Navin Patnaik visited Capital Hospital and Sahid Nagar police station and released the logo and preamble of the ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative.
The programme has already been implemented in all the police stations, 21 district headquarters hospitals (DHHs) and the state-run Cuttack, Berhampur and Sambalpur Medical Colleges and Hospitals.
The objective of this programme is to provide service with dignity to people who are visiting government offices for different purposes. It is an effort to prove that in a proper democracy, it is the people who hold the real power and the government employees should serve them in the best possible manner.
The purpose of the initiative is to improve the governance by collecting feedback on behaviour and professionalism of government officers. Improvement in the system can only bring in desired changes in the lives of people, sources said.
The Chief Minister himself, Police DG (in case of police stations) and Health Minister, Secretary and Director (in case of hospitals) will call random numbers to get feedback.
The employees will be ranked as good or bad on the basis of the feedback. Those that have better ranks will get out of turn promotion. Similarly disciplinary actions will be taken against government employees with bad rankings. Sources said that identities of those persons giving negative feedback will be concealed.
