Remuna: Two students died after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a dumper near Shergad under Khantapada police limits in Balasore district Monday.
The deceased were identified as Chandrkant, 22, son of Jagabandhu Mahalik and Lamboder, 20, son of Gadadhar Mahalik. They were students of the Odisha Polytechnic College.
The two were returning from their relative’s house at Jeypur on their bike, when a dumper overtook them from their left side. However, in the process, it hit the bike killing both the students on the spot.
Tension erupted at the accident site after the mishap. On being informed police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Police officials also pacified the irate crowd stating that action will be taken against the errant vehicle and its driver.
